Downtown Topeka Design Guidelines, Topeka, Kansas

Heritage Strategies, LLC. 2016. Downtown Topeka Design Guidelines, Topeka, Kansas. City of Topeka, Kansas; Topeka Historic Preservation Commission; Kansas Historical Society; Historic Preservation Fund, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Topeka, Kansas

These guidelines were funded by a fiscal year 2015 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Kansas State Historic Preservation Office (grant number P15AF00192) and a subgrant to the City of Topeka, Kansas (project number KS-15-003). The subgrant provided for the development of design guidelines based on the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Topeka's two downtown, National Register-listed historic districts. Guidelines were compiled into one document covering both districts. They will be used by property owners to better understand appropriate treatments for properties and by the local preservation commission for design review cases under local and state preservation law. Topeka, Kansas is a Certified Local Government.
