This survey was funded by a fiscal year 2015 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Kansas State Historic Preservation Office (grant number P15AF00192) and a subgrant to the City of Kansas City, Kansas (project number KS-15-005). The subgrant provided for the hiring of a consultant to selectively survey and resurvey portions of downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The ultimate goal of the project is to establish a set of design guidelines for rehabilitation, signage, and facade improvement projects. Kansas City, Kansas is a Certified Local Government.
