Sterilization of harvested submerged aquatic vegetation from outside the Presidio coupled with the translocation of native aquatic snails towards the restoration of Mountain Lake
Young JS. Sterilization of harvested submerged aquatic vegetation from outside the Presidio coupled with the translocation of native aquatic snails towards the restoration of Mountain Lake. Research Permit and Reporting System
Intentional translocations of organisms can sometimes involve unintentional movement of unwanted associated organisms. In the restoration of Mountain lake, Presidio, San Francisco, the restoration of submerged macrophytes involves bringing in founder stock from outside sources. These sources have been identified as having associated non-native aquatic snails. Hand removal of ever individual snail is not efficient. This project attempted to use a non-native plant to sterilize material.
