The purpose of this permit was to collect a diverse selection of park rocks in order to interpret the diverse geologic history of Joshua Tree National Park. The samples collected are currently being used as tactile elements of newly installed interpretive exhibits for Cottonwood Visitor Center to help visitors understand the park's complex geology.
