The City of Avondale Estates through the Avondale Estates Historic Preservation Commission sponsored the completion of Phase I of a Historic Resource Survey of the City limits of Avondale Estates, Georgia. Phase I includes the locally designated historic district as well as the CBD zone. The goal of this survey and a follow-up Phase II survey is to provide a base of information for the local government to use toward the preservation of its cultural resources. Piedmont Preservation, a preservation firm located in Madison, Georgia, performed the survey beginning in the Fall of 2012. (From introduction.) This survey was funded in part by a 2012 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Historic Preservation Division, Georgia Department of Natural Resources (grant number 13-12-41917) and a subgrant to the City of Avondale Estates, Georgia (project number GA-12-023). Avondale Estates, Georgia is a Certified Local Government. The survey copy submitted to National Park Service is missing pages 14 to 17 and does not include the following sections listed in the table of contents: survey results, recommendations and appendix.
