From "Objectives": "The City of Ruston Core District Historic Structures Survey is a reconnaissance level survey resulting from a collaborative effort between the Louisiana Office of Historic Preservation, the City of Ruston and Tipton Associates. The objectives of the Core District Historic Structures Survey are: To complete a reconnaissance level survey for all structures fifty years or older located in the Core District; Prepare a survey report that will provide the City of Ruston with baseline historic data for future land use and preservation planning as part of Ruston 21 and the Core District Master Plan; Provide recommendations for expanding the Ruston Historic District or for the creation of new historic d¡strict and neighborhoods; and Contribute to the body of knowledge and raise awareness of the City's Historic resources." This survey was funded in part by a 2011 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Division of Historic Preservation, Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism (grant number 22-11-31925) and a subgrant to the City of Ruston, Louisiana (project number LA-11-013). Ruston, Louisiana is a Certified Local Government. Funding allowed for the city and the historic district commission to decide if the historic district should be expanded or if additional districts should be created.
