This project was funded in part by a 2011 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the State Historical Society of Iowa (grant number 19-11-31922) and a subgrant to the City of McGregor, Iowa (project number IA-11-055). Funding allowed the newly established Historic Preservation Commission to pursue essential training in preservation planning, survey, and evaluation; project development, management, and completion; and work with a historic preservation professional. The training was intended to help the commission better understand its role in the community and be better able to garner community support by involving local individuals and businesses as it carries out its mandate. McGregor, Iowa is a Certified Local Government.
