Between May 25, 2016 and June 4, 2016 sixteen Geoscience majors from Hobart and William Smith Colleges mapped portions of the Mauna Ulu and Kūlanaokuaiki Pali areas of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. In the Manua Ulu area, students collected field data on arerial photographic base maps to delineate volcanic flow and tephra deposits, establish their age relationships and relate them to vent structures. In the Kūlanaokuaiki Pali area, students mapped volcanism-related faults.
