Fire effects monitoring data collected at Channel Islands national Park on Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa Islands. The data were collected in the spring and summer from 1997 – 2007 (FMH plots) and 2007-2013 (Coastal Sage Scrub regeneration plots) by the Point Reyes fire effects monitoring crew. Data were collected using a variety of protocols. Data from the Santa Rosa FMH plots (with unburned controls) were collected using the protocols described in the Fire Management Handbook (FHM). They included shrub and grass 30 meter point intercept data to obtain relative and percent cover and 30 m brush belt transects to measure seedling and shrub density in Artemisia californica and Nassella pulchra vegetation types. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect to document change. Wildfire plot data in coastal sage scrub were collected following the 2006 Cruz fire using a modified version of Keeley's nested macroplots (ex: Keeley and Fotheringham 2003). Data were collected to measure shrub mortality and seedling recruitment, burn severity, % cover, shrub density and species richness.
