Redstone Coke Ovens Historic Park interpretive signs

2010. Redstone Coke Ovens Historic Park interpretive signs. Redstone Historical Society & Historic Preservation Commission

The interpretive signs described here were funded in part by a 2008 Preserve America grant (grant number 08-08-PA-4004) to Pitkin County, Colorado for the project Redstone Coke Ovens Education and Interpretation Program. The grant provided for the development of an education and interpretive program for the Redstone Coke Ovens Historic Park. The program was designed to educate the public, direct foot and car traffic, and promote the site throughout the community. The PDF attached to this record combines seven documents generated during the production of interpretive signs for Redstone Coke Ovens Historic Park: a final proof, construction detail and general construction plan for a large interpretive sign featuring text and photos; and plans for five smaller signs that each feature a single icon (denoting, in turn, "architecture," "materials," "preservation," "railroad" and "vegetation"). Three JPEG photos show the large interpretive sign post-installation.
