Ixodes scapularis ticks were collected from 30 towns in 11/16 Maine counties from June 2015-December 2016. Both I. scapularis nymphs (n= 230) and adults (n= 1499) were tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the presence of Powassan virus, subtype II (deer tick virus). In total, of 21 pools of I. scapularis nymphs tested, 2 were positive for the virus. Of the 203 pools of adults tested, 15 were positive for the virus.
