From introduction: "This project took place between April 2013 and September 2014 and had three components: downtown development, structures, and preservation publications. It significantly expanded the "Preservation Means Business" initiative begun by the Salem Preservation Society. The City selected the historic preservation consulting firm of Taylor & Taylor Associates to work with local volunteers on the downtown development component and this report details that work." Funding for this project was provided in part through a fiscal year 2013 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the City of Salem (project number OH-13-016) administered by the Ohio State Historic Preservation Office (grant number P13AF00015) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Salem, Ohio is a Certified Local Government.
