In 1934, Gold Placers, Inc. (owned by General Alexander McRae) bought out the claims of prospectors from the Coal Creek area. At the time, mining in the area had evolved from small operations to industrial-scale prospecting. The general manager of Gold Placers, Inc., Ernest Patty, purchased light-weight and mobile drills from the C. Kirk Hillman Company in Seattle, Washington. The Coal Creek dredges and drills were put to rest in 1957 and they remain in the Coal Creek area today.
