Arthur and Sadie Reynolds moved from Colorado to Alaska in 1906 to pursue gold mining. Later, Sadie Reynolds permanently moved to California in 1921 due to health and Arthur took on a team of sled dogs to supplement mining with hunting and trapping. In 1927, Reynolds moved into a cabin off of Sam Creek and continued to mine and trap until his death in the 1950s. The National Park Service refurbished the Sam Creek cabin in 2014.
