From introduction: "The Citywide Neighborhood Historical Study is what is known as a historic context statement. It discusses the important themes in the development of Sausalito from its beginnings in the 1820s until 1968, 45 years before the present." Funding for this project was provided in part through a 2012 Historic Preservation Fund grant to City of Sausalito (project number CA-12-036) administered by the California State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 06-12-41911) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Sausalito, California is a Certified Local Government.
