From introduction: "The Pebble Beach Historic Context Statement (HCS) presents an overview of the community's history with a specific emphasis on describing the historic themes and patterns that contributed to its physical development. It is intended to support the identification and evaluation of historic properties, as well as inform future preservation and planning efforts. The Historic Context Statement is a powerful tool, and this User Guide was created to help readers navigate through the lengthy document in order to maximize its usefulness to the Pebble Beach community." Funding for this project was provided in part through a 2012 Historic Preservation Fund grant to City of Pebble Beach (project number CA-12-038) administered by the California State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 06-12-41911) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Pebble Beach, California is a Certified Local Government.
