A survery of the mammal fauna of the Noatak River Valley and Delta undertaken with three primary purposes in mind: 1. to determine of the species composition within the environs of each camps; 2. to outline the distributions of the various species within each study area and throughout the Noatak Valley; 3. to obtain data on population dynamics, habitat preference, and species associations at each collecting site. Secondary goals included an evaluation of the taxonomic and zoogeographical affinities of the Noatak fauna with other Arctic faunas by means of comparative morphological karyological analysis.
