Pueblo East Side Neighborhood Architectural and Historical Selective Inventory

From introduction: "The exact definition of what constitutes Pueblo’s East Side neighborhood varies from resident to resident. But one feature is always the same: the East Side is a place set apart. It is a place set apart physically by Fountain Creek, which severs the neighborhood from the rest of the city. It is a place set apart by its erratic, undulating topography. It is a place set apart by varied architectural styles and building types. And it is a place set apart by its economic and cultural diversity... The major goal of this project was to acquire as much architectural and historical data as possible for forty-three selected properties in the East Side study area (Historitecture actually surveyed forty-five), allowing City staff and others to make sound preservation planning decisions regarding this neighborhood... This project culminated in the inventorying of forty-five properties. Of them, sixteen properties (35.6 percent) were field determined eligible for individual listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Field eligible for listing in the Colorado State Register were nineteen properties (42.2 percent, including the sixteen National Register-eligible properties). Thirty-three properties (73.3 percent) were determined eligible as Pueblo Landmarks (including the sixteen National Register properties and the three State Register properties). Historitecture determined that one National Register or Pueblo Landmark district could be created within the project area."
