Kalbian MS. 2012. Historic District Inventory Report, Chapel Rural Historic District, Clarke County, Virginia. Clarke County; Virginia Department of Historic Resources. Clarke County, Virginia
From "Notes on Format, Organization and Justification of Inventory": "In the following inventory, which is listed numerically by street address, all resources, both primary and secondary, have ,been considered either contributing or non-contributing based upon the areas of significance as listed under Criteria A as Agriculture, Religion, and Ethnic Heritage Hand and under C for Architecture and based upon the period of significance of 1756-1963. All non-contributing resources have, therefore, been so noted for being either constructed after 1963 or as having no integrity left to represent the period and areas of significance. A brief architectural description is provided of the primary resource. For additional information see the DSS form at the Department of Historic Resources (DHR). The resources are keyed to the accompanying sketch map using the tertiary number of the DHR-assigned inventory number; for example, the location for 60 Ann field Road (DHR #021-5025-0071) is marked as 71 on the sketch map. Properties marked with ** are already listed in the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places." Project funding was provided in part by a 2011 Historic Preservation Fund grant to Clarke County (project number VA-11-001B) administered by the Virginia State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 51-11-31953) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
