From abstract: "This report documents an intensive architectural/historical survey of all the historic resources located within two areas of the City of Eau Claire known as the Westside Neighborhood and the Eastside Hill Neighborhood as of January 1, 2010. This represents study areas whose boundaries were set by the City of Eau Claire in conjunction with the staff of the State of Wisconsin's Division of Historic Preservation prior to the beginning of this study. Subsequently, a reconnaissance survey of these areas was undertaken by the principal investigator as the first part of the intensive architectural/historical survey, after which an intensive research effort designed to ascertain the historic and architectural significance of the resources identified by the reconnaissance survey was undertaken by the principal investigator. The results of this research is summarized in this intensive survey report and they are also embodied in individual data entries for all the resources studied, which were prepared in electronic form to standards set by the Division of Historic Preservation. The purpose of this intensive survey project was two-fold; to identify all the resources within the study areas that are potentially eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, and to provide the City of Eau Claire and other county, state, and national agencies with a comprehensive data base that covers all the historic resources within the study areas. The intensive survey ultimately surveyed 222 individual resources. Of these, one historic complex containing a total of 3 individual buildings, and 2 individual buildings, were identified as having potential for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)." Project funding was provided in part by a 2009 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the City of Eau Claire (project number WI-09-002) administered by the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 55-09-21855) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
