From introduction: "This Historic Preservation and Revitalization Plan provides a strategy for using heritage properties in the City of Excelsior Springs to enhance the quality of life for the community and promote revitalization of its downtown and older residential neighborhoods. These resources can be important components of community development. However, there are challenges that must be addressed for the potential benefits to be fully realized. This document sets forth a plan of action that will help place historic resources in the forefront of the health and well-being of the City." Project funding was provided in part by a 2009 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the City of Excelsior Springs (project number MO-09-017) administered by the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 29-09-21831) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Excelsior Springs, Missouri is a Certified Local Government.
