This resource brief summarizes data for Prince William Forest Park from a 2015 inventory of Eastern hemlock trees in National Capital Region parks. The purpose of the project was to answer the following questions:1) Where are the remaining patches of living Eastern hemlocks in the NCRN parks?2) In areas formerly dominated by Eastern hemlocks, what regenerating vegetation is replacing the dead canopy trees? If we find living Eastern hemlocks stands, we may address the following question as well:3) Are there differences in the forest floor plant composition in stands where hemlocks are still living and stands where hemlocks are mostly dead?
