This brochure includes a short essay on Roseburg's early history and a map for a guided tour featuring QR codes for each featured site. From the short essay: "The Mill-Pine Neighborhood grew out of a need for housing close to the railroad. The Oregon-California Railroad Line was completed from Portland to Roseburg in 1872 and on to Ashland in 1884. Aaron Rose, the community’s founder, then began the development of this first neighborhood adjacent to the railroad property. The First, Second, Third, and Fourth Southern Additions to the City of Roseburg were platted between 1887 and 1894." Project funding was provided in part by a 2012 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the City of Roseburg (project number OR-12-18) administered by the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 41-12-41944) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Roseburg, Oregon is a Certified Local Government.
