Final Report, Sustainable North Park, Office of Historic Preservation Grant, 2012-2013

Abstract: "Sustainable North Park is an initiative that sprouted in 2009 under the umbrella of the North Park Main Street (NPMS), the state's first Sustainable Main Street program. Community leaders embraced this challenge and later that year convened a group of local stakeholders to develop the framework of a sustainability plan in North Park. In fall 2012 the initiative was awarded a grant from Office of Historic Preservation to begin to implement sustainability initiatives and support and highlight the inherent link between historic preservation and sustainability. This report is a snapshot of work accomplished between November 2012 and September 2013 by the Sustainable North Park Main Street. It covers the grant requirements and how they were met through various outreach and education programs. The report also covers local and national partnerships that were established during the project period and resulted in additional funding towards next phase of the project as well as brought national attention to North Park's EcoDistrict brand." Project funding was provided in part by a 2012 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the North Park Main Street Alliance (project number CA-12-050) administered by the California State Historic Preservation Office (grant number 06-12-41911) and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
