Common Bond Preservation

Abstract: "At the behest of the City of Sioux Falls and the Sioux Falls Board of Historic Preservation, Common Bond Preservation (CBP) completed a reconnaissance level architectural survey of the Pendar Lane neighborhood in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The goal of the project was to update information and clarify eligibility on previously surveyed properties, gain an understanding of the nature of unsurveyed architectural resources in the neighborhood, and evaluate the potential for an historic district. All properties were recorded on an Historic Sites Inventory Reconnaissance Form and documented through digital photography. At project completion, 285 resources were surveyed. All surveyed properties were of a residential nature, mostly single family dwellings, with five multiple family dwellings surveyed (duplexes). The project team evaluated the integrity of these properties and identified potentially significant resources for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places, on both an individual and district level. The majority of the resources date to the first half of the twentieth century, are vernacular in nature, and retain a high degree of integrity. The neighborhood is in very good condition with the historic residences being highly prized and well treated. At survey completion, 24 resources are considered individually eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and 195 are considered contributing to an historic district with a period of significance of 1890 – 1951 (68%)."
