Standard Operating Procedure SHR06 Initial Post Survey Processing

This standard operating procedure (SOP) details the steps required to download and convert the collected shoreline position data into a useable dataset that is correctly formatted and has undergone initial Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checks. These steps include: Importing GPS data, performing differential corrections, exporting GPS data to GIS data, editing the shoreline feature in a GIS environment, generating metadata, and data management procedures. Download and QA/QC of the survey data are to occur immediately following the field data collection to ensure that no data are lost due to equipment failure. In addition, prompt data processing immediately informs the surveyor if a repeat survey day is required due to equipment issues.
