From summary: "The Work of the Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: 1. Temporarily jacking and shoring the existing roof and trusses. 2. Building a temporary water tight temporary structure over the chancel and north sacristy. 3. Removal and replacement of roof tiles over the chancel and north sacristy. Removal of all damaged sheathing and all sheathing in contact with damaged members. Removal and replacement of roof rafters noted on drawings. Replace damaged roof sheathing and reinstall all other sheathing removed. Re-nail all remaining sheathing. Re-roof with felt and new roof tiles as specified. Remove temporary roof. 4. Strengthening the trusses including the repair of damaged sections of the trusses and installation of steel truss plates. Includes lifting and handling related to the installation of the steel truss plates. 5. Removal of the floor of the south transept and removing all of the existing wooden joists, girders, and posts which have been termite damaged. Replacing the damaged wood members. 6. Sistering of the damaged ceiling joists above the decorative plaster of the chancel and sanctuary. 7. Investigation of the wooden lathe on which the decorative plaster of the chancel and sanctuary is attached. 8. Installation of plaster washers to support the decorative plaster ceiling of the chancel and sanctuary. 9. Removal and replacement of the truss bearing plate as identified on the drawings. 10. Removal and replacement of the damaged wood purl ins. II. Removal and replacement of the damaged ceiling bead boards. 12. Removal and replacement of the damaged roof rafters over the north sacristy and chancel as identified on the drawings. 13. Rebuilding of the arch supporting the plaster chancel arch. 14. Interior plaster repairs associated with the structural work. 15. Interior histone decorative finishes including flooring, wainscoting, plaster walls and ceilings, wood trim and faux finishes." Project funding was provided in part by a 2007 Save America's Treasures grant to the Church of the Holy Cross (grant number 45-07-ML-0615) administered by the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. The Federal Save America's Treasures (SAT) grants program began in 1999 and helps preserve nationally significant historic properties and collections that convey our nation's rich heritage to future generations of Americans. Since 1999, there have been almost 4,000 requests for funding totaling $1.54 billion. In response to these requests, $315,152,000 was awarded to 1,287 recipients. Grants were awarded to Federal, state, local, and tribal government entities, as well as non-profit organizations through a competitive matching-grant program.
