Crow Canyon Archaeological Center: Building a More Inclusive History brochure

A brochure introducing the Native American Advisory Group and other collaborative and volunteer opportunities available to American Indian visitors. From the brochure: "At the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, we believe that everyone’s history matters. Written records document only a small part of the 15,000-year human occupation of the Mesa Verde region. The rest of the story is told through the archaeological record and oral histories passed down through countless generations of native peoples. At Crow Canyon, we work with indigenous communities to reconstruct an accurate and inclusive history that reflects current research and gives voice to those who lived that history." Funding for this project was provided in part through a 2010 Preserve America grant to Montezuma County, Colorado (grant number 08-10-AP-5003) for the Promoting Mesa Verde Country, Past and Present project. The grant was administered by the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Preserve America is a federal initiative that encourages and supports community efforts to preserve and enjoy our priceless cultural and natural heritage. The goals of the program include a greater shared knowledge about the nation's past, strengthened regional identities and local pride, increased local participation in preserving the country's cultural and natural heritage assets, and support for the economic vitality of our communities.
