From introduction: "Modern-day residents of the once-small northern Arizona settlement of Sedona are discovering the fascinating early history of the town and the remaining historic resources found in their midst. As an aid to planning for the preservation of these resources the Sedona Historical Society has commissioned this historic resource survey of the City of Sedona. The central objective of this report is to identify, document, and evaluate the historic resources within the incorporated limits of the City of Sedona. The historical information and building documentation generated for the report may be used in several ways by the Society and the City, as they deem appropriate. The following are among the possible uses: To nominate historic districts or individual properties to the National Register of Historic Places; To use as the basis for creating a local preservation ordinance; To interest residents and tourists in the history of Sedona; and To encourage proper rehabilitation of properties based on this historical research." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Sedona Historical Society administered by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
