From introduction: "The Officer's Quarters at the Yuma Quartermaster Depot is one of the principal resources of the Yuma Crossing National Historic Landmark. The Landmark is located on the Arizona and California shores of the Colorado River, and the Quartermaster Depot is situated on the river's left bank in the old "north end" of the City or Yuma, Yuma County, Arizona. The Depot is administered as a unit of the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. The California portion of the Landmark contains Fort Yuma and lies entirely within the Fort Yuma (Quechan) Indian Reservation. Prior to the development of this Historic Preservation and Interpretive Plan, Gerald A. Doyle & Associates published A Historic Structure Report and Preservation Recommendations on the Officer's Quarters. That document was designed to assemble and evaluate previously known and newly found historic data on the property, determine the builder and date or construction of the building, evaluate the existing physical. conditions of the structure, and identify measures required to restore the property to its 1870s condition... The Historic Preservation and Interpretive Plan is intended to: (1) devise a preservation strategy for the Officer's Quarters and the immediately adjacent outdoor areas, (2) establish a policy to determine the level of authenticity to be achieved in the restoration process, and (3) conceptualize a visitor program designed to interpret the historic significance of the building." Funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant administered by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
