Boulderer's Perceptions of Leave No Trace in Rocky Mountain National park

The purpose of this study was to develop a baseline understanding of who is bouldering at RMNP and their attitudes, perceptions, and beliefs, regarding Leave No Trace recommended practices. The insights gleaned from this research can inform the development of effective communication and education strategies that serve to improve resource conditions and visitor experiences. Researchers from Pennsylvania State University, in collaboration with Rocky Mountain National Park, conducted an on-site visitor survey of bouldering activity in the Bear Lake corridor of the park. Data collection occurred over a 21-day period from July 10-31, 2015 using a stratified representative sampling approach. A total of 229 completed surveys were collected, yielding an overall response rate of 95%.
