Historic Resource Maintenance Plan: The Stone Library, Adams National Historic Site

Skelton JD. 1977. Historic Resource Maintenance Plan: The Stone Library, Adams National Historic Site. Historic Structure Management Plan. U.S. Department of Interior, National Park Service

The Historic Resource Maintenance Plan (HRMP) was written for personnel of Adams National Historic Site in order to provide detailed information on the maintenance of the Stone Library. The Plan is composed of sections that address a particular material or item in the Stone Library and presented in a format which is intended to facilitate the inclusion of new material. Each section is further divided into three sub-sections dealing with general information, inspection, and maintenance. The sub-section on general information describes the particular material or item and its location within the structure, notes other related sections in the HRMP, and discusses previous work and maintenance. The sub-section on inspection makes recommendations concerning the frequency of inspection and sets forth guidelines for inspection characteristics. The sub-section on maintenance recommends types and frequency of maintenance and provides guidelines for these activities. This is intended to be used in conjunction with a preventative maintenance inspection program in order to assist park staff in the preservation and continued maintenance of the Stone Library.
