South Dakota Cultural Resource Geographic Research Information Display (CRGRID)
South Dakota Cultural Resource Geographic Research Information Display (CRGRID). South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office
The Cultural Resource Geographic Research Information Display (CRGRID) is an easier way to access the South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office's (SHPO) historic sites information. Federal and state law requires the SHPO to undertake and maintain a statewide survey of historic properties. A statewide survey provides a permanent record of the state's historic properties and is a valuable source for historical research. The SHPO, federal agencies, state agencies, local communities, and private companies all use the information gathered by the survey as a planning tool to ensure wise use of the state's cultural resources. Funding was provided in part by Historic Preservation Fund grants administered by the South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office and the State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
