This report is a supplement to the "Survey Report, Restoration of the Andrew Johnson Homestead" (1956), which was prepared by Dr. Ernest Connally. He supervised the measuring team and student program at the Andrew Johnson Home during the summer of 1956. Research continued after the departure of the team, as many points required further study and new evidence was found as the restoration work progressed. This report attempts to explain the actual restoration of the home and is intended to be used alongside Dr. Connally's reports. It may help park staff and those responsible for the maintenance of the house to understand the reasons for and methods of various phases of the restoration. As work progressed, the team found two important changes: one in the grade at the front walk, and the other in the front entrance or portal. High quality illustrations of the restoration work are included.
