This research report seeks to document the features of the grounds of the Andrew Johnson Homestead. It includes changes in boundaries and ownership, conditions at the time of Andrew Johnson's occupation and death (1869-1875), and changes to the site since the historic period. The report makes use of personal accounts that are sometimes conflicting and other times in accordance. These accounts are drawn from reporters and from individuals who lived in the house in more recent years.
