An overview of the genus of Diphylleia (Berberidaceae), which includes three species spread between the southern Appalachians and eastern Asia. This includes D. cymosa (umbrella leaf). Specimens from Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway are examined in the preparation of this overview.
