Final Report on the General Avian Inventory of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Colorado, 2004-2005
Giroir G. 2005. Final Report on the General Avian Inventory of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Colorado, 2004-2005. Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory. Brighton, CO
Glen Giroir, of the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (RMBO), conducted avian inventories in 2004 and 2005 at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve by establishing a series of habitat-stratified point count transects using distance-sampling methodology in each of the major habitat types of GRSA. Surveys were also conducted for wintering, migratory, and nocturnal bird species by conducting point counts along drivable roads in GRSA. During the point count transects, field biologists detected a total (in all habitats combined) of 3107 individual birds of 110 species.
