These data represent dendrologic measurements and characteristics of trees cored by the Inventory and Monitoring Program and Univ of MD Center for Env Sci Appalachian Lab during the 2017 field season in five National Capital Region Network parks. Data were collected following procedures developed by Maeglin (1979), which is a U.S. Forest Service technical report that details methods for collecting and processing tree cores. Two cores were taken from four trees at each of XX plots in Antietam National Battlefield, Catoctin Mountain Park, National Capital Parks - East, Prince William Forest Park, and Rock Creek Park. Ring year and width were measured from each core. Characteristics of trees cored were recorded including latin species name, crown type, and tree diameter and height where cored. Tree locations were measured as azimuth and distance from plot center. UTM Zone 18N coordinates of each tree were also measured.
