This standard operating procedure (SOP) covers all the information necessary for SEAN staff and partners to plan and execute the field work necessary to collect, preserve, and ship Dolly Varden (Salvelinus malma) to a qualified laboratory for total mercury analysis. Tasks include obtaining the permits required to perform the field sampling, gathering required supplies, observing field siting and trapping requirements, and meticulously handling and preserving samples for shipping and subsequent analysis.
