Using scat-detection dogs, we surveyed the Santa Cruz Mountains for five weeks collecting mountain lion scat. We collected five potential scats (pending genetic results) on Rancho Corral. Overall we collected 225 potential mountain lion scats throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. Genetic work will be completed fall 2018 at which time we'll be able to assess number of lions using the area.
