Applied Geophysics Class Research Project: Depth to Basement in Yosemite Valley

Louie JN, Maher E, Shaw K, Carey C, Dunn M, Whitman S, Bourdeau J, Eckert E, Stock GM. Applied Geophysics Class Research Project: Depth to Basement in Yosemite Valley. Research Permit and Reporting System

UNR students in an Applied Geophysics course conducted geophysical investigations in Yosemite Valley during the months of March and August 2017. The goal of the study is to understand better the geometry of the bedrock basin and its stratigraphy. We employed gravity, resistivity, and refraction microtremor(ReMi) methods to investigate the interface between valley fill and bedrock, as well as shallow contrasts. This investigation should refine geologic and hydrologic models.
