Emerald Ash Borer Early Detection Monitoring

Watson KM. Emerald Ash Borer Early Detection Monitoring. Research Permit and Reporting System

According to the 2006 GAO report on invasive forest pests the emerald ash borer can kill all 16 types of ash trees (GAO 2006) and, as of 2016 the pest has killed an estimated 25 million trees (USDA 2016). Organism directly causes tree mortality or predisposes host to mortality by other organisms. Loss of ash trees reduces social, environmental and economic integrity. Early detection of any introduced exotic pest is critical if eradication and suppression programs are to be successful.
