In 2017, we visited 48 areas consisting of historical territories or areas deemed suitable for goshawk occupancy. We surveyed a total of 31,168 acres, checked the status of 167 historical nest structures, performed call broadcasts at 259 points, discovered 6 new nest structures either occupied by or believed to have been built by goshawks, and discovered 11 occupied nests. The goshawk breeding rate within the Minidoka Ranger District was significantly lower than recent years.
