Cordylophora caspia is a colonial hydroid that lives in freshwater or slightly salty habitats. Colonies grow on hard surfaces including rocks, pilings, and dreissenid mussel shells. C. caspia reproduces sexually and asexually through budding. Cordylophora sp. acts as a biofouler and there is a confirmed presence on the Colorado River. This study tried to determine if sexually produced planula larvae were present. We sampled the top 20 ft of water and found no planula in the samples collected.
