We began a survey of Mexican spotted owl in Grand Canyon National Park in spring of 2017. We completed four back country survey trips, and have reported all data collected to Grand Canyon National Park. USFWS interrupted the project in April 2017, two months into work, claiming that it wasn't appropriate for us (US Forest Service) to receive a permit to survey owls from GCNP under the permit GCNP has from USFWS for owl monitoring. The project ended at that point.
