Nitrogen deposition due to atmospheric pollution poses a major threat to ecosystems worldwide. Despite the high levels of anthropogenic pollution in the greater Los Angeles area, the impact of nitrogen deposition has not been previously explored in the Santa Monica Mountains NRA. The overall goal of this research was to provide a comprehensive assessment of rates of atmospheric N deposition across the Santa Monica Mountains NRA and the resulting ecological impacts to native vegetation.
