Luminescence in Mycelia of the Santa Monica Mountains Fungi

Luminescence in Mycelia of the Santa Monica Mountains Fungi. Research Permit and Reporting System

Recognizing diversity among the fungi can be highly challenging. While genetic approaches such as studying DNA sequence “fingerprints” have made incredible advances in our understanding of species distribution and diversity, those types of studies are usually only correlated with morphology of the specimen and lack any physiological correlates. The proposed study will generate a live fungal mycelium collection that can be studied in order to make further correlations of genetics and physiology.
