We completed field work in Glacier Bay National Park during the summer of 2017. This work concentrated on the raised marine terraces northwest of Lituya Bay. Results included new limiting dates on the timing of the last ice advance. Results indicate glacial ice covered the area as early as 38,000 years ago and only retreated shortly before 11,000 years ago. During the last glacial maximum, glaciers were at least 500 m thick over the present shoreline.
