This report briefly describes the general geology of Thomas Stone National Historic Site (THST), including a geologic history of the site, geologic resource management issues in the site, and the status of Geologic Resource Evaluation (GRE) digital geologic mapping projects related to the site. The National Park Service held a Geologic Resource Evaluation scoping meeting for Thomas Stone National Historic Site near LaPlata, Maryland on Tuesday, July 26, 2005. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of geologic mapping in the park, the associated bibliography, and the geologic issues in the park.
