This report deals with architectural data of a historical nature pertaining to the Plunkett-Meeks Store and House (Buildings No. 9 and 9-A of the Master Plan at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park). Initial construction seems to have taken place in 1850, although the structure's appearance at the time of this report was the result of several major alterations. The report is a summation of the work of the 1956 student measuring team. The team made physical investigations of the building, compared similar structures, and searched for pertinent documentary material. The report addresses historic aspects such as ownership, use, and alterations as they relate to the architectural features. The main objective of this report was to present a record of what was found before the complete opening up of the building and surrounding ground. It is followed by a supplement report that describes additional areas of study.
